About the Program

Graduates are granted educational credits from ACTA towards prestigious national travel industry professional designations CTC (Certified Travel Counsellor) and CTM (Certified Travel Manager) recognized by employers locally and abroad.

Our International Travel & Tourism Diploma Program is ideal for the student interested in learning all important aspects of the travel and tourism industry to be well prepared to start a rewarding career journey.

This is a 700-hour comprehensive program that includes Canadian, and International content, enriched by research assignments, field trips, guest speakers & industry events (when available).

Students develop skills & knowledge highly valued by employers, ensuring good employment opportunities upon successful completion.

Methodology

Learners love our “unique style of teaching” which is a blending of experiential learning, exploratory research, theory, and interactive role-playing so classes are interesting, inspiring, engaging, and fun!

Small Class Sizes range from 10-22 which allows for personalized attention. Classes are a blending of Canadian & International Students which is an amazing cultural experience.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, and participate in class discussions. Interaction enhances self-confidence, and helps the student build communication, interpersonal skills, and friendships.

TRA 101: Travel & Tourism Essentials

In this course, the student will learn about:

TRA 103: Tourism Geography – Global Overview

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ World Overview including Continents, Hemispheres & Climate
✈ Time Zones & International Date Line
✈ Highlights of the World

TRA 105: World Destinations IATA Area 1
North and South America

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ Canada, the United States, Mexico, Caribbean, Central & South America
✈ Popular Tourist Attractions & Highlights
✈ Climate & Best Time of Year to Travel

TRA 107: World Destinations IATA Area 3 Asia, Australia, New Zealand, & Oceania

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ Major Countries, Capitals & Cities
✈ National Carriers & Official Language(s)
✈ Popular Tourist Attractions & Highlights
✈ Climate & Best Time of Year to Travel

TRA 109: Professional Sales & Enhanced Customer Care

In this course, the student will learn:
✈ Professional Selling Techniques
✈ How to Provide Exceptional Customer Care
✈ Telephone Etiquette & Public Speaking
✈ “Niche” (Specialty) Markets e.g. Adventure, Destination Weddings, Spas / Wellness & Others

TRA 102: Travel & Tourism Fundamentals

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ Hotels & Resorts Worldwide
✈ Organized / Escorted Tours (locally & abroad)
✈ Cruise Lines / Ships & Destinations
✈ Rail Travel including Unique Rail Journeys
✈ How to Recommend, Sell & Book Travel

TRA 104: Tourism Geography – Travel Documentation

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ Passport, Visa, Tourist Cards & Health
✈ General Security Policies & Procedures
✈ Packing & Travel Tips

TRA 106: World Destinations IATA Area 2
Europe and Africa

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ Major Countries, Capitals & Cities
✈ National Carriers & Official Language(s)
✈ Popular Tourist Attractions & Highlights
✈ Climate & Best Time of Year to Travel

TRA 108 : Airline Industry, Fares, Ticketing, & Booking Procedures
 

In this course, the student will learn about:
✈ IATA Regions & Codes used Worldwide
✈ Passenger Services & Accessibility
✈ Co-ordinating Flight Itineraries
✈ Applying Best Fares & Other Charges
✈ How to Book Air Travel – E-Ticketing

GDS 110: GDS (Global Distribution System)

In this course, the student will learn:
✈ An overview of commonly used systems e.g. APOLLO™ / Galileo International Inc.™, Sabre™ & Amadeus™.

Travel College Canada offers a choice of three study options to suit the unique lifestyles of our student. Program content, assignments & tests are the same.

2, & 3. Full Time Programs – We anticipate Winter/Spring 2020 will be open for Enrolment in December. Please revisit https://travelcollege.ca in early December for an update.

How to Register for Distance Education Programs

1. Email: info@travelcollege.ca and request the International Travel & Tourism – Distance Education Enrolment Contract, and advise if you are applying as a Canadian, or International Student

2. Complete the Enrolment Contract, check the applicable boxes in Admission Requirements section, then email along with supporting documents. We will review your application to determine eligibility

For those accepted, we will send our secure banking information for the transfer of payment in accordance with the Enrolment Contract. Please follow banking instructions when making your payment

3. After you have made payment, notify the college by email, and include a copy of your payment receipt so we can credit your student account, and process program enrolment

4. Program materials including: Program Introduction, Instructions, Theory Notes & Assignments will be sent via Canada Post. Please allow up to 30 days for processing and delivery.
