It is ideal for the individual planning to
start and/or manage their own "Home Based" travel business
and those interested in training
and working toward a career in travel management.
To best benefit from this program the student needs to be focused and dedicated to professional and personal success – high standards are imperative.
Graduates from this program are granted educational credits from CITC (Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors) toward the CTM (Certified Travel Manager) designation.

TRAVEL & TOURISM COURSES:
TRA101: Travel & Tourism Essentials:
The student will learn all aspects of:
- Leisure/Vacation & Corporate/Business Travel
- Assessing client needs, and researching the best
product within budget
- Recommending, selling and booking the right
travel products for the right client including appropriate travel
insurance
- Where, When and How to make bookings
- Understanding and explaining industry codes, terms and
definitions to clients
TRA102: Tourism Geography & World
Destinations The student will study:
- Major tourist countries and cities
- Tourist
attractions
- Climate and best time of year to travel
- Entry
requirements/travel documentation e.g. passports, visas, health
- General security policy and procedures
TRA103: Sales Development & Customer Care The
student will learn:
- How to sell and provide excellence in customer care
- Professional telephone skills
- To develop more self-confidence
- Great public speaking techniqiues
- How to manage travelers with special
needs
- "Niche" or
specialty travel
markets e.g. Adventure; cruises; luxury; spas/wellness; weddings & honeymoons;
special interest and group travel
TRA104: Airline Industry, Fares & Ticketing
The student
will:
- Understand and apply Domestic & International
fares, rules and regulations
- Learn industry codes, terms and terminology
- Be knowledgeable on general security policies and procedures

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COURSE:
BUS101: How
to Start a Small Business
The student will learn about types of businesses, licensing, registration, bonding and insurance; possible areas of specialty (niche markets e.g.
Adventure travel, luxury, cruises, weddings, honeymoons, spas/wellness etc).
Writing a Business Plan is a major assignment.
Those considering a
career as a Home Based Travel Agent will be particularly interested in learning
about the importance of selecting the best company to partner (associate) with.
BUS102: Financial Matters (Management)
The student will learn about the accounting cycle including the flow of monies, and
the importance of budgeting,
planning and financial forecasting
BUS103: Marketing,
Advertising & Sales (Plans and Budgets)
The student will learn various ways of promoting products and
services and the importance of preparing Plans and Budgets to
ensure success
BUS104: Human Resources Management
The student will
learn about employment and labour laws; employer/ee liabilities and rights; employment contracts; how to search, interview
and hire the best; and how to determine and write job descriptions
BUS105: Office Computer Training
Microsoft Office: Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access
Note:
Each of the above courses may be taken separately if the student is,
or has been in the travel industry and requires upgrading in a particular
subject or is planning to write the CITC Work Paper as part of the requirement for the
professional designation CTM (Certified Travel Manager).

Special Features at NO ADDITIONAL
COST:
- As of July 1, 2009 those who sell, counsel or provide
travel advice to consumers on behalf of Ontario travel companies need to be certified by TICO
(Travel Industry Council of Ontario). Students enrolled in
either our International Travel & Tourism or International Tourism
Management Diploma Programs will be prepared and proctored to write
the on-line TICO exam. Note: The student will need to pay the
required on-line exam fee directly to CITC however we will proctor
at no charge
- True Colors®, A psychology based self-assessment enabling participants to learn more about their temperament type.
This helps increase
self-confidence & self esteem essential to personal and professional
success. Value $350.00
- Additional E-Learning Online Training
Courses: We are
one of the first colleges to be authorized by selected travel
suppliers to register our students for "travel agent training
courses" ranging from two to four hours. Our students are
provided with a password so they may work from home or in our
computer lab at their leisure. These programs are "extra bonuses"
and not part of our regular curriculum.
Upon
successful completion, the student will earn an additional certificate
provided by the travel supplier. This helps increase job opportunities. Value $800.00
- Career Planning Workshop: The student will learn how to produce
effective resumes and cover letters; prepare for interviews and understand the
job search process. Value $850.00
- Job Search Assistance: Provided to all graduates. Value
$550.00

1. Email:

or call 416.481.2265 to check for space in your preferred
program and start date
2. If advised space is available download the
Enrolment
Contract.
Please read the
Statement of Students' Rights and Responsibilities (Ministry
of Training, Colleges & Universities).
3. Application to register may be done in person (by calling in
advance to book a day and time); email; fax; X-Press
Post (mail) or courier e.g. UPS, FEDEX etc.
4. If the Applicant does not have an Ontario Secondary School
Diploma or equivalent however is a Mature Student (18 yrs. and
over) an Assessment, Admissions Test will be given.
Once the Applicant has completed the test and returned it to the college,
it will be marked and the Applicant advised if they qualify for admission
to the program.
5. When the Applicant is accepted into the program, the required
payment shown on the Enrolment Contract (Registration Form) must be forwarded to the
college.
Bank Transfer is the best, most efficient form of payment.
Visa and MasterCard are also accepted
Once payment is received, a Letter of Acceptance & Receipt of
Payment is issued.
