ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The student will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to build a solid foundation to start an exciting and rewarding career in the travel and tourism industry.

This diploma program is approved by the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC) on Level 2 (the highest).

Curriculum includes International & Canadian Content: Classroom instruction is enriched by research assignments; field trips; guest speakers; and industry events (when possible).

Travel and Tourism Courses:

TRA101: Travel & Tourism Essentials
The student will learn all aspects of:

  • Leisure/Vacation & Corporate/Business Travel
  • Assessing client needs, and researching the best product within budget
  • Recommending, selling and booking the right travel products for the right client including appropriate travel insurance
  • Where, When and How to make bookings
  • Understanding and explaining industry codes, terms and definitions to clients

TRA102: Tourism Geography & World Destinations
The student will study:

  • Major tourist countries and cities
  • Tourist attractions
  • Climate and best time of year to travel
  • Entry requirements/travel documentation e.g. passports, visas, health
  • General security policy and procedures

TRA103: Sales Development & Customer Care
The student will learn:

  • How to sell and provide excellence in customer care
  • Professional telephone skills
  • To develop more self-confidence
  • Great public speaking techniqiues
  • How to manage travelers with special needs
  • "Niche" or specialty travel markets e.g. Adventure; cruises; luxury; spas/wellness; weddings & honeymoons; special interest and group travel

TRA104: Airline Industry, Fares & Ticketing
The student will:

  • Understand and apply Domestic & International fares, rules and regulations
  • Learn industry codes, terms and terminology
  • Be knowledgeable on general security policies and procedures

GDS (Global Distribution System) also known as CRS (Computer Reservations System):
Currently training is provided on two widely used airline/travel agency reservation systems however as technology is rapidly changing the college reserves the right to make changes as deemed necessary:

Special Features at NO ADDITIONAL COST:

  1. As of July 1, 2009 those who sell, counsel or provide travel advice to consumers on behalf of Ontario travel companies must be certified by TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario).

    We provide a pre exam prep course and proctoring at no charge for students in our International Travel & Tourism or International Tourism Management Diploma Program. Value $199.00 
    Note: The student pays the required on-line exam fee directly to CITC/TICO.   
     
  2. True Colors®, A psychology based self-assessment enables participants to learn more about their temperament type. This helps increase self-confidence & self esteem essential to personal and professional success. Value $350.00
  3. Additional E-Learning Online Training Courses: We are pleased to have built excellent working relationships with travel suppliers who allow us to offer our students "travel agent training courses" ranging from two to four hours. Upon successful completion, the student will earn a certificate provided by the travel supplier which helps increase job opportunities.

  4. Career Counselling & Job Search Assistance: The student will learn how to create effective resumes and cover letters; prepare for interviews and understand the job search process.
  5. Field Trips & Guest Speakers (when scheduling permits): Value..Priceless

Please download, print, read and complete the program Enrolment Contract

and bring it with you when registering.

 

Please read Statement of Students' Rights and Responsibilities (Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities).

 

Out of town applicants

Please email, fax, X-Press Post (mail) or courier the completed Enrolment Contract and supporting documents.

Program prerequisite:  OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) or out of province/country equivalent. An applicant who has not graduated high school may apply as a Mature Student (18 yrs. and over) and pass an Assessment test. 

When the Applicant is accepted into the program, the required payment as shown on the Enrolment Contract must be forwarded to the college.


Bank Transfer is the best, most efficient form of payment.
